Storehouse is a food bank operating out of BBC in Station Road.

It began a few years ago, to see if there was a need to support individuals and families at a time of difficulty. It was a slow start, but now, it is not unusual to give out over thirty bags of food and provisions every week.

Everyone is referred to us, which could be via school, social services, local community group and so on. Everyone's story is different, and we are privileged to be a part of their lives in some way.

It would, of course, be ideal if there were no need for Storehouse, but changes and delays in the benefits system, redundancy, illness and the like can all contribute to folk finding themselves in need of support, and we are more than pleased to be able to show the love of God in a practical way.

We are supported by other churches and schools in Birchington and across Thanet, and operate with the generous help of traders in Birchington village, and now, also in Minster.

All the supplies we pass on come to us by donation, either of the goods themselves or finances to enable us to buy what is needed at any particular time.
